Bus travelling which is considered as the second lifeline of Mumbai might get costlier. The minimum ticket for a Non-AC bus will be INR 7 and AC bus will be INR 10. Currently, the minimum ticket for Non-AC bus is INR 5 and the minimum ticket for an air-conditioned bus is INR 6.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has suggested a rate hike to the BEST administration which is in financial loss. The BEST initiative had demanded three thousand crores from the municipal administration. However, the civic body has refused to pay and has suggested options to increase the income to improve the financial condition of BEST. Therefore, after the Lok Sabha elections, the passengers of BEST bus might face a price hike.

Meanwhile, Mumbai MLA Aditya Thackeray criticised the government by tweeting in this regard. According to Aditya Thackeray, the BJP-led government seems to have decided to increase the bus fare of BEST. We have always said that BJP is anti-Mumbai and this proposed fare hike is another way to cut the pockets of Mumbaikars.
