The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has scheduled a pipeline replacement operation owing to which water supply will be disrupted on May 2-3 in several areas of suburbs. The work is set to start from the Mithi Chowky intersection to the Mahavir Nagar junction. It will begin at 10 pm on May 2 and is expected to last for 24 hours.

The pipeline will be emptied during the operation. It will be replaced with a new one measuring 1200 mm in diameter. This will lead to water cut in the Kandivali and Borivali.

The new pipeline in Kandivali West will have improved water pressure and leak prevention. On May 3, areas such as Jan Kalyan Nagar, Chattrapati Shivaji Raje complex, and the MHADA colony will not receive water during their usual water times of 1.30 am to 2.55 am.

Other areas, including Lalji pada, Sanjay Nagar, K.D. compound, Gandhi Nagar, Mahavir Nagar, Bunder pakhadi, MHADA Ekta Nagar, Shantilal Modi marg, Mathurdas Marg Bhabrekar nagar, Irani wadi, Kandivali Gavthan, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Shankar gully, and Swami Vivekanand marg, will also face water supply disruption. These areas usually receive water between 3.40 am and 5.50 am.

The water delivery for Charkop MHADA sectors 1 through 9, which usually runs from 11.45 am to 2.05 pm, will also be affected. Other areas, including Poisar, Indira Nagar, Mahavir Nagar, Borsa Pada Marg, Shimpoli, SV Road, Satya Nagar, Vajira Naka, Mahavir Nagar, Jairaj Nagar, Sodawala Gully, Eksar, Yogi Nagar, and Poisar, will not receive water on May 3. These areas usually have water supply scheduled from 7.10 pm to 9.55 pm.

The BMC has also advised residents to boil and filter their water before consuming it for the next four to five days. This precautionary measure is to make sure of the safety and health of the residents during disruptions.
