Shrikant Shinde, a Shiv Sena MP, has seen a dramatic increase in his wealth over the past five years. In 2019, Shinde and his wife Vrushali had a combined wealth of INR 2 crore. By 2024, this figure has increased to about INR 15 crore.

Shinde is contesting for the Kalyan Lok Sabha seat in Thane district. He disclosed his financial details in an affidavit submitted with his nomination on Thursday, May 2. The document revealed that Shinde's income comes from various sources, including business, compensation, rent, and agriculture.

Interestingly, with his wealth, his liabilities have also increased. In 2019, he had loans amounting to INR 12 lakh. This figure has now ballooned to INR 6.6 crore. Despite this, Shinde and his wife own significant assets. The couple had movable assets worth INR 1.41 crore, including cash, bank deposits, shares or mutual funds, a car, and gold. Now, they are valued at INR 8.15 crore, which includes 3.2 kg of silver and 1.2 kg of gold. Interestingly, Shinde claimed that they had never purchased a car.

The couple's immovable assets have also seen a significant increase. Until 2019, they owned land in Satara valued at INR 55 lakh. Now, they own property worth INR 6.77 crore, including three residential apartments registered in Vrushali's name. Shinde himself has acquired additional agricultural land valued at INR 2.71 crore.

The couple also has liabilities of about INR 5 crore and has taken out loans totaling INR 1.68 crore from banks and various other parties. Shinde has obtained an INR 1.05 crore loan from Laxman Kadam and an INR 3.99 lakh loan from Vrushali.

The opposition has raised concerns about the income of a charity organisation controlled by Shinde. It has been alleged that INR 550 crore has been funnelled and used for other purposes.
