The BMC is planning to build walkways at various places for Mumbaikars and tourists. The construction of footpaths at two places namely Mahim Fisherman Colony to Worli Fort and Mantralaya to Badhwar Park has reached its final stage.

Mumbai City Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar has directed the BMC to implement such a scheme to promote tourism in Mumbai. There is a three to four km trail at Bandstand west of Bandra. Some people enjoy this walkway instead of going to the sea. A similar footpath will be constructed from Mahim Fishermen Colony to Worli Fort. The walkway will also have excellent lighting, seating and some open space.

The official said that a footpath will be constructed for about 9 kilometres from Mahim Fisher Colony to Worli Fort. The footpath will be built with the help of PWD, Maritime Board, BMC and other government agencies. The CRZ's approval is also required for that, and a proposal for its approval will be sent soon. After getting approval from there the proposal will be prepared. After this, the BMC will provide funds for the construction of the footpath. BMC had also hired a consultant to improve the footpath.

What will be special

After the Mantralaya to Budhwar Park footpath, facilities such as information board, seating arrangement, electric lighting etc. will be available for the tourists to walk around. The consultant has also applied for this and the tender for this work has also been approved. The Tourism Department and the District Planning Committee will pay for the construction of this footpath.
