Mumbai Indians (MI) Women's team is gearing up for the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) with a strong lineup and an all-female coaching staff. The franchise is considered to be one of the most evenly matched teams in the tournament, and they are all set to play their first game against Gujarat Giants on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium.
The team has made some big acquisitions during the auctions, with Harmanpreet Kaur being designated as the captain after being acquired for INR 1.8 crore. Natalie Sciver, an England stalwart, joined the team for INR 3.2 crore, and Pooja Vastrakar, Yastika Bhatia, and Hayley Matthews are some of the franchise's biggest purchases. MI has a strong hitting lineup with many all-rounders, but their bowling unit is relatively inexperienced, with only Vastrakar having professional playing experience.
Mumbai Indians has appointed an all-female coaching staff to guide their team through the tournament. The coaching staff includes former England captain Charlotte Edwards as the head coach and legendary Indian player Jhulan Goswami as the mentor. Devika Palshikar, former Indian all-rounder, will serve as the batting coach. The team's coaching staff and captain are confident in their ability to lead the team to success.
The Mumbai Indians squad is a mix of experienced players and new talent that includes Humairaa Kaazi, Neelam Bisht, Jintamani Kalita, Sonam Yadav, Yastika Bhatia, Heather Graham, Issy Wong, Amanjot Kaur, Dhara Gujjar, Saika Ishaque, Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr, Pooja Vastrakar, and Nat Sciver.
