Professor Dhirendra Pal Singh has been appointed as Chancellor of Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) for five years. Dhirendra Pal Singh has served as the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, India's apex body for higher education, from 2018 to 2021. Professor Singh has held several important academic positions in Indian higher education for nearly four decades.
He has served as Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, Dr HS Gaur University in Sagar and Devi Ahilya University in Indore. Also served as Director, National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore.
Contributed as ex-officio member of Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Indian National Cooperation Commission with UNESCO and Russia, Implementation Committee of National Education Policy 2020 etc.
