Navi Mumbai: Children with disabilities from NMMC ETC Centre achieve remarkable results in SSC board exams

Navi Mumbai: Children with disabilities from NMMC ETC Centre achieve remarkable results in SSC board exams

Like every year, this year also the students of ETC Center of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) who are hearing impaired, visually challenged, learning disabled, mentally challenged and multi-disabled have achieved great success. The tradition of 100% pass result has been kept intact. The Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar appreciated the hard work and efforts of all these meritorious students.


A total of 34 children studying in the ETC centre have passed SSC with flying colours. Out of these, 07 children from the learning disabled section, 13 from mentally challenged section, 09 from hearing-impaired section, 02 from visually challenged section, 02 from multi-handicapped section and one child from autism section.


Out of this, the highest mark of 83.20% has been secured by Abdul Rahman Shirgaonkar, a student from the learning disabled section. Siddhesh Dagdu Sanas, a student admitted to class 10th with both English and Marathi from the learning disability section, has secured 74.20% marks.

Along with this, Nitish Paswan, Chandan Saroj, Kishan Rajbhar, Mustaqeem Qureshi, Astha Gupta have also scored good marks from the hearing-impaired section. Harshad Thorat, a boy with multiple disabilities, has scored 75% marks and has performed brilliantly. Gaurav Hemant Kolekar (Marathi Medium) and Anish Kumar Thakur (Hindi Medium) have also achieved great success. Both these students are normal school students and they were being given special education from the ETC centre for further courses.  Similarly, Bhavesh Sombhai Baria, Vaishnavi Sanjay Singh, Varun Ramnaresh Rana, Harsh Jayant Pathare, Nilesh Santosh Kamble, and Rahul Rajesh Shinde from the mentally challenged department have scored good marks.

Neil Rohit Gulati, Varad Shashikant Thakur, Nikhil Kailash Mane, Uday Dinesh Thakur have also secured excellent marks from the learning disability section. The parents of all the students expressed their happiness about the success of the children and insisted that the ETC centre played a big role in this success because all these children were given all the help and guidance from time to time by the ETC centre.

ETC Center Director Dr. Varsha Bhagat while expressing her satisfaction about the success of these children said that this success is the result of the hard work of the students, the persistence of the parents, and the efforts of the teachers and therapists. Since most of these students have achieved first rank in SSC examination, many opportunities for further college education and professional education are available for them, she further added.
