The state government has decided to attach Cama Hospital to GT Medical College. Accordingly, it has been decided to start nine new departments in Cama Hospital soon. This will provide relief to the patients of Mumbai, Thane, Bhiwandi, Navi Mumbai and Raigad who are coming for treatment in Cama Hospital.


It has been decided to convert GT Hospital into a medical college with a capacity of 100 students. For that, the state government has decided to include Kama Hospital in the medical college along with GT Hospital to meet the standards of National Medical Science Commission. Along with this decision, Cama Hospital will be further upgraded. For this, the Medical Education Department has decided to start nine new departments in Cama Hospital

Accordingly, nine new departments namely Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Diagnostics, Gynecology and Paediatrics will be started in Cama Hospital. The process of appointing Heads of Departments, Professors, Associate Professors and other employees required for these departments will be done soon.


Dr. Tushar Palve, Medical Superintendent of Cama Hospital informed that this process will be completed immediately after GT Medical College gets permission from National Medical Sciences Commission. Though patients come from all corners of the state in Cama Hospital, a large number of patients come from Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Bhiwandi, Palghar and Raigad. These patients will benefit the most.
