Maharashtra Health Minister, Rajesh Tope stated that the third wave of COVID-19 is likely to hit the state in December, however, it will be mild, mentioned accounts.

According to reports, Tope was quoted elaborating on how based on the projections of epidemiologists, the waves come periodically in a certain frequency. Whilst the first wave came in September 2020, the second in April 2021, the third is expected to hit in December.

Tope stated that the rate of inoculation in Maharashtra has been high, therefore, it is probable that the wave will be mild. Adding that over 80 per cent of the individuals have been inoculated in the state.

Further, Tope elucidated how COVID-19 vaccination has played a pivotal role in containing the spread of the virus. He claimed that the infection is less and mortality is nearly zero. This is accompanied by considerable immunity antibody is created in youngsters and students, he believes.

Whilst the third wave is anticipated in December, inoculation will see to it that infection will be mild and the need for ICU and oxygen will be low, he stated. While speaking about vaccines in Maharashtra, he said there was no dearth of them.

Tope mentioned that the state has surplus vaccines, with presently, 1.77 crore vaccines accessible. He added that the Covaxin stock is 64 lakh and the Covishield stock is 1.13 crore.
