The Uddhav Thackeray led party was planning to defect 20 to 25 BJP MLAs. His plan was to strengthen the Mahavikas Aghadi by putting five BJP leaders in jail including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Minister Girish Mahajan. However, we foiled their plan, said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who was speaking at a workers' meeting organised at Bhandup in North East Mumbai constituency. MLAs and office bearers were present along with Mahayuti candidate Mihir Kotecha.

During the two-and-a-half years of Mahavikas Aghadi government, many development projects were obstructed and these projects were blocked. But our government removed the hurdles in all these projects. Ban on Metro Carshed work in Aarey lifted. If we had not done the car shed in Aarey, we would have gone back ten years and would have cost 10 thousand crores more to complete this project. The Chief Minister also alleged that due to stubbornness and arrogance, the decision taken by the previous government regarding the Metro Carshed had caused damage to the state.
