The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station is India's headquarters for the Central Railways. Along with this, the station has historical importance attached to itself and therefore, the railway station is being beautified.
Accordingly, Western Railways' Bandra station will also undergo beautification and the initiative will be conducted soon. Since Bandra Station is a heritage site, the original structure will not be changed. A reserve fund of ₹66.62 crore has been allotted for the project under the Interim Budget 2019-20.
Under the initiative, Bandra station will receive wooden benches and along with this, it will witness an illuminating atmosphere at night as Railways will install lantern-shaped LED lights. The entire project is expected to be completed within 6-8 months.
It is expected that the beautification will add value to the Bandra station which is currently one of the prominent stations on the Western strip of the Mumbai local train service and draw a large number of tourists through its exotic look.
