With an aim to offer relief to the citizens during the lockdown period and to encourage payments of electricity bills in order to recover dues, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), on Friday, November 6, announced two schemes for consumers in the financial capital.

As per BEST officials, the first scheme will benefit the ones who are willing to pay the amount in full. If the consumer pays the bill for November bill, on an immediate basis, officials will consider waiving the DPC (delayed payment charges) and IoA (interest on arrears) on the electricity usage between April and October 2020. Moreover, 2 per cent rebate will be given on bills during the same months.

Meanwhile, the second scheme will be payments made by installments, whereby if the bill for November is paid in three equal instalments, both DPC and IoA on the electricity usage between April and October 2020 will be waived off, while 1 per cent rebate will be given on bills during the same month. Officials have confirmed that the IoA will not be charged if all the instalments are paid in time.
