Soon, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) consumers will face a drop in their electricity bills as the electricity provider has decided to reduce the prices for its energy services. The reduction in prices will come in effect from April 1 as the electricity suppliers across the state have decided to bring a change in the electricity tariff rates.
While BEST has decided to make electricity cheaper for its consumers, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) might burden its consumers with increased electricity prices. BEST is expected to bring down the prices by three per cent despite its price reduction six months earlier.

The MSEDCL power firm supplies up to 18,000-19,000 million megawatts electricity to more than 2.5 million residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural sectors.
Meanwhile, along with MSEDCL, Tata Power and Adani Electricity are also expected to raise the prices for electricity for its consumers. All the amendments are expected to be effective April 1 onwards.
