Vihar, Tansa lakes start overflowing

Following Tulsi and Modak Sagar, now Vihar and Tansa lakes have started overflowing. On Monday morning around 10:30 am, Vihar lake overflowed. On a daily basis, Vihar supplies around 60 million litre water.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, Tansa lake also started overflowing, making it the fourth lake in the last week to start overflowing. According to officials from BMC hydraulic department, Tansa lake began to overflow at 6.15 am on Tuesday and last year, this lake had started overflowing on July 17. Tansa supplies around 400 million litres of potable water to the city.

On a daily basis, the BMC supplies 3,800 million litre water to the city, that is brought from the seven catchment area lakes namely Modak Sagar, Tulsi, Vihar, Tansa, Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna and Bhatsa.
