Now, Brahmin community demands reservation in Maharashtra

After 'Maratha reservation' gained popularity and focus in Maharashtra, the Brahmin community from the state has come forward to demand their quota and reservation. As per reports, a Brahmin organisation has decided to protest at Azad Maidan on January 22 with their various demands. 

Vishwajeet Deshpande, coordinator of the Brahmin organisation, in a press note, informed that the 10 per cent reservation granted by the Parliament will be challenged in the courts. Hence, keeping the same in mind, the brahmin community also requires a reservation, separately.

The organisation said that a large section of the Brahmin community is still backward in Maharashtra and is not able to earn enough through his occupation as a priest. So, the organisation has listed 15 demands which include ₹5,000 pension for those who hold their religious duties.

The list of demand also includes a separate financial development board to be constituted, followed by the provision of free education till post-graduation and a hostel in each district of the state.
