Mumbai: BMC to install air purifiers on 350 buses to improve AQI

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started taking important steps to provide clean air to Mumbaikars by relieving the polluted breath of Mumbai. Air purifiers will be installed on 350 buses running in Mumbai, and six measures will be taken. The air quality in Mumbai has deteriorated for the past several days. Due to the ongoing development works in Mumbai, construction of buildings, smoke from vehicles, smoke from factories etc., it has become difficult for Mumbaikars to breathe. The civic body has also given guidelines to the concerned along with the builders. However, it appears that these measures have not had much effect yet.

Therefore, the municipality has decided to take more measures to purify the air. The municipality will seek the help of IIT, Mumbai to prevent air pollution. Six machines will be ordered from IIT on pilot basis for air purification.

Mumbai City Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar informed in a press conference that air purification machines will be installed on 350 buses running in Mumbai, out of which these machines have been installed on 150 buses. The footpath lights manufactured by the company Vayu will be commissioned at 50 places, and air purification systems have been installed in these lights. These lights will be installed at Chembur’s Diamond Garden and Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Ud
