City recorded sound level of more than 100 decibels on the last day of Ganpati Visarjan

Parekh HospitalOn Tuesday, last day of Ganesh Chaturthi, Mumbaikars bid farewell to Bappa with teary eyes and asked him to come back soon next year. However, on this day, the city recorded sound level of more than 100 decibels. In some of the immersion processions, the sound level crossed 110 decibels as per Aawaz Foundation’s report.

A man can bear 85 decibel sound and if it exceeds more than that, it affects us. This causes a headache and irritation," Sumeria Abdulali, Convener, Aawaz Foundation.

In Santacruz, Aawaz Foundation recorded sound level of more than 112 decibels in the premises of Aasha Parekh hospital and in Worli, they recorded sound level of 101.2 decibels in the premises of Poddar Hospital. Meanwhile, in Grant Road, in the vicinity of Breach Candy Hospital, the foundation recorded noise level of 99.9 decibels.
