Due to the digging up of the road again, the citizens of the place are facing trouble once again. Also, on this same road, near Mugbhat Cross Lane Junction, a 10 to 15 feet wide pit has been dug for BEST work. Due to this, there is no space for citizens to even step on the road. Shiv Sena (Shinde) party department head Dilip Naik has complained to the Municipal Commissioner in this matter. It has also been stated in the letter written to the Commissioner that Babasaheb Jaykar Marg, Sitaram Poddar Marg, and First Khattargalli have been in a deplorable condition for the last four months.
Road work in Girgaum has already caused pollution, the traffic system is in disarray. Pedestrians are suffering. Therefore, Naik has raised the question of whether there is planning behind the road work or not. He also questioned whether coordination is done in advance for laying utility lines while road works are being carried out.
When contacted regarding the penalty to the contractor, the road department officials said that permission is not given to re-excavate the concreted road, However, due to some defects found in the concreting of Jaykar Marg, the same section is being repaired again by the contractor at his own expense. For that, it has been dug up again. Officials also said that in such cases, a fine is also collected from the contractor.
