On May 20, Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) had a five-hour long meeting in order to finalise the coaches for various teams. Accordingly, the Committee interviewed 18 shortlisted candidates for several teams including the senior men's team.
CIC, headed by former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar, former Indian pacer Karsan Ghavri and ex-Mumbai off-spinner Kiran Mokashi saw every candidate's presentation. The committee will hold a meeting again on Tuesday, May 21, to finalise the candidates.
Amongst the candidates, the first to arrive was former Mumbai wicketkeeper-batsman Sulakshan Kulkarni, who coached the senior team for three seasons starting from 2011-12. After which, he was followed by Sairaj Bahutule, Vinayak Samant and ex-Mumbai pacer Sandeep Dahad.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that the Cricket Association owes Mumbai Police ₹21.34 crore for providing services. The revelation came in response to a Right To Information (RTI) query filed by activist Anil Galgali. Earlier, the 2018 IPL security had cost the city police ₹1.48 crore and MCA is yet to clear that bill too
