A 35-year-old senior doctor from Tata Memorial Hospital committed suicide on Saturday night by injecting herself with an overdose of anesthesia drugs. As per the Bhoiwada police, the doctor, Rupali Shivaji Kalkundre lived in the premises and was suffering from depression.
Kalkundre was found unconscious by her husband, also a doctor, at around 4:30 PM when he got home. He rushed her to the hospital where she was declared dead, overdosing on a shot of anesthesia drugs. Despite best efforts, she could not be revived.
A case of suicide has been registered and was handed to the concerned police station. No suicide note has been found yet. Police suspect her depression to be the cause of her suicide for which she was undergoing treatment since past several years. After post-mortem, her body was handed over to her parents.
