Sohrabuddin fake encounter case is once again in the news as a new judge has been assigned to the case moving out Justice Revati Mohite-Dere of Bombay High Court who was hearing a batch of petitions until Friday challenging the discharge of some senior IPS officers in the alleged fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Shaikh.
Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant expressed a concern over assigning new responsibilities to Justice Revati Mohite-Dere. Amongst the filed petitions, Sohrabuddin’s brother Rubabuddin had filed a revision plea challenging the discharge of IPS officers D.G. Vanzara, Dinesh M.N. and Rajkumar Pandian. There were two other revision applications which were filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the discharge of former Gujarat IPS officer N.K. Amin and Rajasthan police constable Dalpat Singh Rathod which were also being heard by her.
It was only three months, Justice Revati Mohite-Dere of Bombay High Court had begun hearing a key set of petitions in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
On February 24, the Bombay high court’s website showcased the notice which stated that Justice Mohite-Dere will take care of matters concerning anticipatory bail applications, while Justice N.W. Sambre will deal with all criminal revision applications in her place.
Last week, Justice Mohite-Dere remarked that the CBI had failed to put all evidence on record including the prima facie evidence against those discharged.
