Over 15 lakh students have registered themselves for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams for the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) which commenced on February 11. Out of these, 3 lakh candidates belong to the Mumbai division alone including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar.
To prevent cheating, extra precautions have been taken at the 15 identified sensitive exam centres in the Mumbai division. Instead of the usual practice of selecting staff from the respective junior colleges, the local education officer will appoint external staff, including the centre head, to ensure vigilance at these centres.
Along with the external staff, these sensitive centres will be under drone surveillance. The staff members will be wearing identity cards and there will be a face recognition system. Additionally, this year whichever centre is found involved in cheating or other malpractices, will lose its exam centre approval.
