On Monday, April 8, a TYBCom student from St. Rocks College in Borivali was caught scribbling answers of Marketing and Human Resource Management (MHRM) paper at his centre in Kandivali. The answers were forwarded on a WhatsApp group and the police are now suspecting that management authorities to be involved in it.
The boy was reported to the education department and a case has been registered against him under IT Acts sections. A senior police officer said that no arrest will be made until a thorough probe is conducted, which will get delayed as the college has allowed him to write the exams and requested the police not to interrogate him until his exams are over.
Earlier, police had suspected the involvement of a few seniors of the western suburb college, but as the investigation proceeded, the role of a private tutor/coaching class teacher, who also teaches in the college, has also come to light.
Meanwhile, at Mumbai University (MU) a three-member committee has been set up for a parallel inquiry, which stated that some of the answers circulated on the WhatsApp group were wrong. Police are waiting for the completion of the TYBcom examinations, following which the students could be questioned to ascertain the source of the leak of MHRM answers on WhatsApp groups.
