On Wednesday, June 23, for the second time in a row, Maharashtra vaccinated 6,02,263 people in the COVID-19 prevention vaccination camp.
This happens to be the largest number of vaccinations that have been conducted in a day. In view of the situation, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with Health Minister Rajesh Tope lauded the efforts of the officials.
Moreover, a record number of COVID-19 vaccinations have been conducted in the 623 centres in Pune city on Wednesday. According to the CoWin portal, 90,530 people have been vaccinated in the district. Earlier, the maximum number of vaccinations were reported to be 85,000.
Furthermore, the free vaccination drive for the 18-30 age group began in Maharashtra on Tuesday days after it was started for the people aged between 30 and 45 age on June 19. It could not be extended to people above 18 earlier due to a shortage of doses.
On the other hand, earlier on Wednesday, June 23, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) became the first civic body in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) to administer more than five lakh COVID-19 vaccination shots, claimed the city Mayor Naresh Mhaske.
According to a statement released by the civic body, the Thane city completed the vaccination of 5,03,040 persons so far. Mhaske said vaccination camps were organised in the city for several categories such as disabled people, senior citizens, transgenders, homeless people etc in the last few weeks.
