Do not cut additional trees for Metro-3 car shed: HC

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has been cutting down trees for Metro-3 car shed in Aarey since the last few weeks. As car shed work was stalled for the last four years, MMRC did everything to expedite the work. However, the work has been stalled once again as Bombay High Court (HC) has ordered MMRC to not to cut additional trees, informed Stalin Dayanand of Vanashakti NGO.

Environmentalist Zoru Bathena has filed a petition against MMRC for violating court’s orders by cutting down trees.

Meanwhile, HC has dissolved the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Tree Authority committee terming it as illegal and has ordered to appoint a new committee. Along with this, the court has also suspended all the proposals approved by the same committee.
