Sion flyover's repair work starts from today

Last month a cement slab from Sion's flyover fell on the road which resulted in disrupting the traffic. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has undertaken the repair work which can further disrupt the traffic.  MSRDC and Mumbai traffic police yet have to finalise a plan for traffic closure or diversion.

As stated in DNA, an MSRDC official said that currently, there will be barricading below the flyover, and when actual work commences, traffic will be shut on the flyover before which several joint inspections by MSRDC and traffic police will be undertaken in order to ensure that there is no major traffic bottleneck due to the closure.

The total cost of repair on 2+2 lanes of the Sion flyover is around ₹6 crore which includes changing of bearings and expansion joints on the 1.1-km-long flyover that was constructed in the late 1990s and witnesses around 15,000 vehicles plying above it daily. A contractor has been appointed by MSRDC to carry out the work.
