Andheri - Samajwadi Party’s state unit president Abu Azmi has started campaigning for the party candidates in the BMC elections. He vigorously campaigned for Gayatri Devi, party candidate from K-West ward’s 61. The said ward is reserved for women. She will have to face a tough competition from Shiv Sena candidate Rajul Patel who represented this ward three times before it got reserved for a male candidate of the OBC category. Sena’s Raju Pednekar had retained this Sena fort in the 2012 civic elections. Rajul Patel had fought the last election from another ward but had got defeated by the margin of 282 votes. Sena workers have started preparations to get their candidate elected while Samajwadi Party has also engaged its cadres to take on the mighty rival. The Samajwadi Party had organised a public meeting in Gayatri Devi’s favour at Marium School here where Azmi lashed out at the BJP and the Shiv Sena.
