Mumbai – BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta had ordered demolition of illegal buildings above 14 feet in slums after the Behrampada incident. But looking at the forthcoming civic elections, all parties except MNS have opposed the move. In a standing committee meeting held on Wednesday, Shiv Sena raised an objection on the move and the party received support from all the other parties except MNS. Meanwhile, Mehta asserted that the civic body will not let the height of shanties go further up in slum areas and assistant commissioners will be held responsible for the construction of illegal shanties in their areas.
