On Thursday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray arrived at Vidhan Bhavan talking to each other and greeting assembled mediapersons together. Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Thackeray had come to take part in a meeting of the Marathi Language department.
Fadnavis and Thackeray at loggerheads
After the 2019 Assembly polls, Fadnavis and Thackeray have been bitter foes since the undivided Shiv Sena broke its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party over sharing of the chief ministerial tenure.
MVA govt in Maharashtra
Thackeray then formed a government in the state with the support of the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party. The bitterness between the two leaders increased after a rebellion by Eknath Shinde brought down Thackeray's Maha Vikas Aghadi government last year in June. Then with the BJP’s support, Shinde became Maharashtra’s chief minister and Devendra Fadnavis became Deputy Chief Minister. Fadnavis had earlier said that he had taken revenge on Thackeray by ensuring the collapse of the MVA government.
Rumours of thaw between enemies sparked
Usually, all ministers and MLAs drive directly to the porch of the main entrance but Fadnavis and Thackeray got down from their cars at the outer gate and walked together till the entrance.
