ED summoned Raj Thackeray to silence him according to NCP leader Dhananjay Munde

Maharashtra Legislative Council Opposition leader and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Dhananjay Munde on Thursday slammed the central government over Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) summons to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray in connection with a money laundering case.  

While alleging that the “undeclared emergency” has become more visible in the country, Munde said that ED summoned Thackeray in order to silence him ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections which are due in October this year.

The MNS chief became a staunch critic of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah during the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign.

Raj Thackeray is currently being inquired by ED officials at the central investigation agency’s office in Mumbai. The ED is probing alleged irregularities in the loan and equity investment made by Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Structure (IL&FS) in Kohinoor CTNL.
