On Thursday, Air India assured its passengers that there are no bed bugs on its aircraft as the state-run company had carried out a fumigation exercise after some passengers complained about bed bug bites last month. Air India was criticised last month after business class passengers complained of bed bugs crawling on the seats.

The airline had earlier released a statement saying that the incidents of bed bug bites reported by passengers on international flights were ‘isolated’ ones and they had taken a serious view of the complaints and carried out the fumigation.
Two passengers had complained of having bitten by bugs; On July 17, Pravin Tonsekar had complained of having an unpleasant experience due to bed bugs, whereas on July 20, Saumya Shetty had tweeted an image displaying her bite marks.
The engineering team carried out a thorough fumigation exercise and there were no bugs found after that," an Air India official said in their statement on Thursday.
