On Tuesday, September 22, heavy rainfall lashed the streets of Mumbai. As the local trains come to a standstill, the Central Railways has informed that several trains on the railway line stand cancelled.
Moreover, the Western Railway administration has informed that the traffic on the Western Railways has also been disrupted. Therefore, the employees who go to work in the morning have to face several difficulties in order to get to work.
As per reports, a massive amount of water has accumulated at Sion and Parel station in Central Railway Station. As a result, a large number of passengers have gathered at the flooded stations, unable to reach work.
The BEST bus services have also been diverted due to heavy rains and consequent waterlogging. BEST took to Twitter to share the same.
According to the meteorological department, torrential rains were forecasted for Mumbai on Wednesday. Mumbai's roads have been submerged due to overnight rains, disrupting road traffic. Similarly, railway traffic has also come to a standstill.
The meteorological department issued a warning against the backdrop of torrential rains. Besides, the municipal administration has appealed to leave the house only if it is urgent.
However, this might be the last heavy spell over Mumbai and the suburbs during this monsoon. Although the withdrawal of monsoons will be in the first half of October, the rain in the month of October is usually counted as post-monsoon rainfall.
