Andheri metro to get new platform screen door

Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) has decided to improve the commuting between Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro by placing platform screen door (PSW). The MMOPL has sought the permission from Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA). Once MMRDA gives green signal, MMOPL will start its work.

To avoid untoward incidents

The decision has been taken to avoid untoward incidents. MMOPL hinted towards the Bhima-Koregaon violence where a group of people got on the tracks of the Asalpha metro station and stopped the metro from running. Other than this, one man ended his life by jumping on metro tracks.

MMRDA not giving permission

As MMRDA holds 26 per cent stake in the Metro-1 project, MMOPL has to take permission of the MMRDA. The same has been done four months ago and Mumbai Live has the related letter as well. Mumbai Live tried contacting MMRDA’s senior officials but could not get through.

All metro stations will get screen door

For now, screen door will be installed at Andheri metro station and after few months, it will install at all other metro stations.
