Railways kick out 318 caterers

Azad Maidan- Railways ousted 318 catering workers without any proper notice alleged the workers who observed a one day strike at Azad Maidan. These workers were hired on 27th February 2009 who used to work as a caterers in Rajdhani and August Kranti railway. However, on 19th December 2016, these 318 workers were asked to leave without any prior notice. “We want our jobs back and so we protested at Azad Maidan. They have done this deliberately so that they can assign their favourite contractors. We have written a letter to railway minister Suresh Prabhu regarding the same,” said Sayyed Sheikh, vice president, IRCTC Departmental Catering Contract Employee Association.
