The state government and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) handed over a plot at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) for the underground terminal of the Ahmedabad- Mumbai bullet train to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC), who will be building the bullet train project.
MMRDA commissioner UPS Madan handed over the documents of 4.6 hectares of land in presence of railway minister Piyush Goyal and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at a function at CSTM.
According to the NHSRC officials, they will start building bullet train terminal at BKC by year-end or early next year. They have planned a three-level underground terminal at about 25 meters in the āGā block.
Initially, MMRDA was hesitating to hand over the plot as they were planning to build International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) but later they agreed to give land under certain conditions. Meanwhile, NHSRC has promised that they would integrate the bullet train terminal with IFSC building which will be constructed above it.
Last year, on September 14, 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
