According to a latest development, Bollywood actor Salman Khan has received another death threat. However, this time the unknown caller has demanded a ransom of ₹2 crores.
The threat, which was conveyed to the Mumbai Traffic Police, warned that failure to pay would result in the actor's death.
Following this, authorities in Worli registered a case against the unidentified sender and an investigation is on.
It is pertinent to note that this come a day after a 20-year-old man was arrested from Noida over death threats to the actor and Zeeshan Siddiqui, MLA and son of NCP (Ajit Pawar) leader Baba Siddique, who was shot dead on October 12. Police have taken Gufran Khan to Mumbai on a transit remand.
Last week, the arrest of Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, a 24-year-old vegetable seller from Jamshedpur. He was detained after sending a threatening message to Mumbai traffic police through their WhatsApp helpline, demanding a hefty ransom of ₹5 crores.
Earlier on October 21, the Mumbai Police received an apology from the same sender who threatened Khan on October 18, stating that the message was "sent by mistake." The initial threat message was sent to the number of Mumbai Traffic Police's control room on October 18.
For the unversed, suspected members of the gang had opened fire outside the actor's Bandra home in April. The actor's security has been beefed up after the string of death threats following the death of Baba Siddique (66), a three-time MLA and former state minister. He was shot dead outside his son's office in Bandra on October 12.
