The much-awaited trailer of Karan Johar's fancy high school drama Student Of The Year 2 aka SOTY2 released this morning. The filmmaker is all set to introduce the young and dynamic batch of the second instalment-Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.
Director Punit Malhotra's SOTY2 will not only keep up the friendship, rivalry and fashion drama but will also see some high voltage stunts. The film also features Hollywood actor Will Smith in a cameo role.
Talking about the film at the trailer launch, Karan says, "It is an exceptionally emotional day for me. This exact place, six years ago, we launched the SOTY trailer with Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. It is a strong franchise and has been in the able hands of Punit Malhotra. I have known him since he was a small child. I have even taught him English."
Adding further, director Punit Malhotra mentions, "I am too excited. I love how the trailer looks. To be honest, I was very nervous when we started shooting. I thought Tiger would punch me. I felt like I was a school teacher while directing Tara and Ananya".
Although the story looks different, the film is surely going to be compared with Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan's SOTY. Articulating about the comparison Tiger avers, "I don't want to compare the two films. This is a very different film. Of course, there is a flavour of SOTY, but it is a different film. If you noticed in the trailer, we have introduced different sports like Kabaddi this time. I don't think we have seen that sport in recent films"
Furthermore thanking Karan, Tara expresses, "Honestly, this moment feels surreal. This is the best day of my life. Thank you so much, Karan"
"It feels like a dream. I have seen so many of my friends do interviews and at the trailer launch of their films. I can't believe I am here today", adds Ananya.
Like Disco Dewaane in the first part, this film will also include the remake70's hit song 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani'
Presented by Fox Star Studios, Student of the Year 2 is produced by Dharma Productions. The film directed by Punit Malhotra is slated to release on 10th May 2019.
