The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) is planning to add two more trains on Metro Lines 2A (D N Nagar to Dahisar East) and 7 (Andheri East to Dahisar East) during peak hours. It aims to manage the increasing number of passengers.
This development came after the daily ridership for the Metro line 2A and 7 has surpassed the three-lakh mark.
MMMOCL ran trial trips with two additional trains on the corridors during peak hours to judge their operational viability on Thursday, July 10.
A decision will be made to incorporate these trains into regular operations depending on the outcome of the trial run.
With the additional services put in place, the number of operating trains on the two corridors will be 30.
In response to growing demand for passengers, there is a call to cut down on headway between two trains and add more trips.
