Foundation stones for the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations was laid by Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday, November 2. They are located at Hutatma Chowk, Kala Ghoda Chowk, and Rampart Row, which comes under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) 'A' ward (Churchgate, Colaba, and Fort).
Citizens can use these facilities without any charges for the first three months. The work to construct these nine EV charging vehicles commenced as soon as Aaditya Thackeray laid the foundation stone, said BMC officials.
His tweet about the same read, "Commenced works for 9 EV charging stations at Hutatma Chowk, Kala Ghoda, and Rampat Marg, in the 'A' ward." He further mentioned that the target is to construct 50 charging stations at the earliest.

Assistant Municipal Commissioner of 'A' ward, Chanda Jadhav, said that all these places would have three charging points each and altogether nine charging points. While each charging point will have a 7.4 kW AC charging capacity for which they will provide a single-phase power supply. This will make it possible for them to build the charging station in a small space and a small size.
This year in July, the state announced its revised electronic vehicle (EV) policy, where it intends to set up 1,500 charging stations in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
Maharashtra also intends to provide full-scale infrastructure for electric vehicles on four major highways by 2025. The highways are Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, Mumbai-Pune Express Highway, Mumbai-Nashik, and Nashik-Pune highway.
