T Bharat Bijli Junction Underpass in Airoli will be closed for two days. The underpass will be closed due to the inauguration of the Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Prabuddha Chowk near the Fire Brigade building at the end of the Airoli-Mulund Creek Bridge.
It will be temporarily closed for all vehicular traffic for two consecutive nights. The work being carried out by Kumar Infra Projects Ltd. requires the installation of a heavy crane at the site.
As per a notification issued by the Rabale Transport Department, the underpass will be closed from 10 pm on April 15 to 7 am on April 16 and again from 10 pm on April 16 to 7 am on April 17. This order has been implemented under the powers conferred on the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) under the Motor Vehicles Department, Navi Mumbai, Navide Division Act.
"Traffic and parking will be prohibited in this area to ensure safe conduct of the ROB launch. These restrictions will be applicable to all vehicles except those operated by Kumar Infra Projects Limited," the notification said.
Alternate routes have been suggested to facilitate smooth traffic flow. Vehicles going from Belapur-Thane Road towards Airoli Sector 1 to 5 via Bharat Bijli Signal should take a left turn at the Airoli Station Underpass to reach their destination.
Similarly, vehicles going from Bharat Bijli to Sector 1 to 5 should proceed via T-point and turn right at Khedekar Chowk to continue on their route.
