Death incidents of golden foxes continue in Mumbai. A fox died two days ago. A dead body of a golden fox was found near Chembur and the reason was rabies. This is the third case of death of wild animals due to rabies infection in Mumbai.
Two golden foxes have died due to rabies in the Chembur area in the last two months. Then on Thursday, the body of another golden fox was found in the same area. As the earlier deaths were due to rabies, experts suggested that samples of the dead fox be tested for rabies. A rabies test report revealed that the dead golden fox had rabies. It is clear from the report that the death of the third fox was also due to rabies. Therefore, this is the third incident of death of a wild animal due to rabies infection in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the forest department has started mapping the Bhabha Atomic Energy Research Center (BARC) and surrounding areas and also started camera trapping to monitor the movement of the golden fox. A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Thane Conservator of Forest Akshay Gajbhiye to investigate the death of wild animals. The forest department has started an awareness campaign in the Chembur area.

Earlier in October, a golden fox died during treatment. As the doctors became suspicious, brain samples of the dead fox were sent to a veterinary college in Mumbai. According to the test report, the fox was found to have rabies. This was the first case of death of a wild animal due to rabies in Mumbai. Then in the middle of the month of November, an injured fox was found in the area of Bhabha Atomic Energy Research Centre. The fox was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi National Park for treatment. Experts predicted the possibility of him being infected with rabies based on his overall movement. Also, this fox attacked a small child in the area. This fox was also found to have rabies. This was the second incident in Mumbai.
