Hoteliers and food stall owners need to have the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) public health department license and renew it on a yearly basis. However, now, the BMC’s public health department is going to issue five years of license to the hoteliers.
Hence, those who want to renew their license will have to pay five-months of fees for the same.
Under section 394 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act (MMC), municipal corporation's health department’s license (Health License) is required for various businesses such as shops, bakery, food vendors, lodge, flour mill, oil and ghee sellers.
A person who is in need of the license can issue the same through a website. One has to simply log onto www.mcgm.gov.in and click on ‘New Business Application’, fill up the form for the license and submit it.
After filling the form, the fire brigade department and public health department will scrutinise the form and the shop as well in terms of safety and security.
The validity of the online application is of 30 days and if the application process is not completed in the span of the said days, the application is automatically canceled. In such cases, the applicant has to re-fill the form.
