The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is entrusted with the responsibility of security of railway property, passenger area and passengers. In addition It is also discharging responsibility as mandated by the Standardised Operating Procedure for rescued children issued by Ministry of Railways and working with other stakeholders to rescue children under “Operation Nanhe Farishte”.
Between April 1 to October 31, 2024, the Central Railway’s (CR) RPF has rescued and helped a total of 861 children (589 boys & 272 girls) with their families.
Recent Incident
Recently on 07.11.2024 RPF Personnel Shri Ishwar Chand Jat and Shri R K Tripathi, during patrolling duty at Khandwa station,noticed a minor boy sitting silently on platform no 4/5. The boy named Sumit was counselled and a mobile number was found tattooed on his right arm. The RPF team called up the number and spoke to his brother who said that the boy had amnesia and keeps forgetting things. The boy was sent to Navjeevan Balgrih with the help of Deepak Lad and Mayur Chore of Child Line after medical examination until his brother comes to take his custody.

The children who come to the railway stations without informing their families as a result of some fight or some family issues or in search of better life or glamour of the city etc. are found by trained RPF personnel. These trained RPF personnel connect with the children, understand their problems and counsel them to reunite with their parents. Many of the parents express their deep gratitude and thankfulness for this noble service.
