The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has intensified its action against hawkers in Dadar. The hawkers have now decided to stage a sit-in protest after permission was denied for a silent march from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park to Mantralaya, as per the report in The Indian Express. The hawkers of mumbai will be protesting at Azad Maidan on July 15. Also, the protest will demand that no action be taken against the hawkers until an alternative location is provided.

The problem of unauthorised hawkers in Mumbai is increasing day by day and the administration is having to work hard to control it. Despite many efforts, the BMC has not been able to completely solve this problem. However, the civic body is keeping a close eye on the hawkers in the Dadar railway station area.

For the last three months, the municipality has prohibited hawkers from sitting in this area and municipal employees are deployed in the relevant area every day. This strict action by the municipality has brought the business of the hawkers to a standstill. This has created immense dissatisfaction among them.

The hawkers have claimed that they have been doing business in Dadar for years and have valid documents. The hawkers are alleging that the BMC is taking action against them despite them being eligible for business.

With businesses closed for the past three months, hawkers are facing financial difficulties to pay their children's school fees and support their families. Therefore, the United Hawkers' Federation will protest at Azad Maidan on July 15.

The hawkers' association has demanded that the government implement the hawker policy, not take action against hawkers until they provide alternative accommodation, and that the government issue licenses to everyone soon.

Mahesh Kanade, a member of the United Street Vendors Federation, expressed regret that even though the issue of Marathi people is currently being talked about, the rights of Marathi street vendors are being ignored.
