Over the last few days, the state of Maharashtra has seen an increase in the number of cases tested positive for Coronavirus. As of March 20, 2020, the total cases in Maharashtra were 52, and within the next 24 hours, the number has increased to 63.
Data states that 10 new cases have been reported in Mumbai and one new case has been confirmed in Pune. Besides this, four people have died in the country, one of them was from Mumbai. The other cases were from Karnataka, Punjab, and Delhi.
Keeping the critical condition in mind, the state government has been taking necessary measures to ensure that the spread is controlled and avoided as much as possible. CM Uddhav Thackeray recently announced that private companies should mandatorily offer work from home, for its employees, as this would avoid contact and commuting. Further, the government offices will also function only with 25 per cent staff.
An order was passed on Friday, where the CM mentioned that all the shops which do not offer groceries, medicines or daily essentials, must be shut until March 31, 2020. This would be applicable across multiple cities. An announcement made on Saturday by Health Minister, Rajesh Tope, states that employees working with essential services will have to present their ID cards to travel in local trains and buses: Rajesh Tope, Maharashtra Health Minister.
important decisions have been taken keeping the examinations in mind, where the state government has planned to conduct Class 10 examinations as per schedule. Further, examinations for class I to 8 have been cancelled, and for classes 9 and 11, they will be held only after April 15, 2020.
