Mumbai Police on Wednesday, January 18, announced a ban on the use of drones and other flying objects for 24 hours ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.

In a statement, Mumbai Police said: "In view of PM's Mumbai visit, no drone, paragliders, remote control microlight aircraft flying activities allowed in jurisdiction of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Andheri, Meghwadi, Jogeshwari on January 19."

The order will come into effect from midnight today and remain in place till 11 pm tomorrow.

The order issued by DCP (Operations), Mumbai Police, Vishal Thakur said, "Due to the situation prevailing in the areas under the control of the Commissioner of Police, Brihanmumbai, it is apprehended that during the Prime Minister of India’s Mumbai visit on January 19 at BKC MMRDA Ground, Metro Line no. 7, Gundavali Station to Mograpada Metro Station that anti-social elements may attack using drones, paragliders, remote control microlight aircraft and there is every likelihood breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility and also there is grave danger to the human life, health, safety and injury to public property."

However, any person contravening this order shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the statement added.

In addition to this, the Versova - Andheri - Ghatkopar metro services will not operate on Thursday evening, January 19 causing inconvenience to the office-goers commuting on this route.
