Nullah cleaning work to begin from April 1

Mumbai – The nullah cleaning work of the BMC will be started from April 1. The civic body will take the help of NGOs in cleaning the small nullahs while it will carry out this work in big nullahs.

The BMC takes up nullah cleaning work before monsoon season every year. A tender process was initiated for cleaning of nullahs and the work orders are issued for cleaning of 24 big nullahs in the city. The tendering process for six remaining big nullahs is underway.
The civic body had invited tenders for small nullahs four times but did not get positive response. Hence, it decided to clean these nullahs with the help of NGOs. Total 3,70,954 man days of work will be required to complete the cleaning of these small nullahs.

Beside this, the civic body will also start cleaning of roadside gutters from April 1.
