While there has been a reduction in the number of cases in Dharavi, there has been a constant increase in the number of cases in the western suburbs of Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is focusing on areas such as Malad, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar.  It is also constantly monitoring the situation in Dahisar’s Ganpat Patil Nagar.

The SERO survey was conducted at Dahisar’s Anand Garden, Crystal Palace and Ganpat Patil Nagar Gali 1 to 4. More than 100 people took part in this survey and gave their blood samples after filling a consent form given by the BMC health workers. All people who were either suspected to have coronavirus or were at high risk were immediately quarantined.

Sero survey involves the testing of blood serum of a person in order to detect if the person is infected with coronavirus or not.

The suburban areas of Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar began to see an increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the month of June. The BMC and police decided to impose an immediate lockdown in these areas in order to contain the spread of the virus. Society officials were given the responsibility of making sure that the virus does not spread in fully or partially sealed buildings if a positive case was found. The search of people who could possibly be infected with the virus began with the help of health check-up, fever check-up camps and various other activities.
