The City Development Department has started ordering the developers to stop work for not following the rules to prevent air pollution while construction is underway in the Thane Municipal Corporation area.
Various measures are being taken by the Municipal Corporation to maintain the air quality in the Thane Municipal Corporation area. Accordingly, the Municipal Corporation had directed a total of 317 construction workers to follow air pollution control guidelines for dust pollution control.
Punitive action was taken in 182 of them. A fine of 09 lakh 25 thousand rupees has been recovered from them along with compliance of rules. Show-cause notices were issued to 120 builders who did not comply with these rules, not to stop work. Among them, those who have reported compliance are being verified. Assistant Director Urban Planning Sangram Kande informed that the seven developers who were issued notices have been ordered to stop work as they did not comply with the norms.
The regulations for air pollution control and in this regard Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has advised to strictly follow the directions given by the High Court. In this regard, it was also clarified that the environment department should continuously make sure that all the norms are being followed by making unannounced visits to all the construction sites.
The city development department issued notices to the developers to stop construction between January 14 and 16 after receiving reports of construction sites that did not follow the rules in this inspection.
M. Skyline Infra at Mauje Naupada, Suyash Patankar at Mouje Thane, M. Padmanabh Developers of Seva Rasta, M. Saraswati Enterprises of Mouje Parsik, M. Jai Properties of Mouje Parsik, M. Developers of Mouje Kalwa have been served with stop construction notices.
The City Development Department has received representations from some developers that they have complied with the regulations. A decision will be taken to resume the construction only after its verification. Sangram Kande has also clarified that if anyone does not follow the rules, such action will be taken.
