The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court had accepted the bail plea of gangster Arun Gawli on April 23, who has been convicted for the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar. Gawli was released on a 28-day parole on Wednesday after the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai concluded.
Earlier in 2012, the gangster-turned-politician along with 11 others was convicted under Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) and was serving time in Nagpur central jail. After his release, Gawli reached the airport and was welcomed by his supporters.

During his time on parole, Gawli will reside at his home in Dagdi chawl. Earlier, Gawli’s application for bail was rejected by the Jail department. However, the Bombay HC accepted the same and released him on parole. The convict has been released on parole or furlough four times.
